There was a Detroit area station that played really good stuff leading up to Christmas. I think they went to a different format years ago. I miss them. Now I look for the internet stations at Christmas time that play the more obscure choral pieces.

I love it, my boss hated it so I would turn the shop
radio to a Christmas channel and he would rarely come
back there during the holidays.

I could work in peace.

I’d buy this if it were real. It’s my kind of Christmas humor.

Personally I go "All Christmas" the day after Halloween in my household - which is today.

Reason I start so early is that I have a vast Christmas music collection that even if I played nonstop between now and Christmas, I likely wouldn't be able to hear it all. iTunes tells me I have 4,318 tracks of Christmas songs. And hundreds of those are 45 minute long blocks of Christmas music I taped off the radio all during the 1970s and 1980s.

Every year, I add perhaps another 200 tracks to the mix. So I'm a serious collector.

Now Sirius radio starts playing Christmas music 24/7 tomorrow at 5PM on channel 18. The problem I have with radio in general however is they basically stick to a playlist of about maybe 250 songs so that you get sick and tired of them in no time at all. Variety is the spice of life and my Christmas music collections spans all genres of music. So I never get sick of Christmas music and it's always bittersweet when I put it away after the New Year.

Home Depot already has their stuff out.”

Noticed that our Dollar Tree put Christmas out at the same time they added things with a Halloween theme. Appears that Thanksgiving has disappeared. Thanksgiving to me has been about family getting together, giving thanks and enjoying each others company for a few hours. Since we no longer have the “old fashioned” family structure it seems to have lost its true importance, except as a merchandising opportunity to kick off the Christmas shopping season.

Noticed that my mailbox has been jammed full of catalogs every day for the past few weeks so decided to track the number. It’s up to 147 thus far and that was only through October 31!

I love Christmas music, carry several CD’s in my car and play them all the time.

Mannheim is one of our family favorites. When my youngest grandson was just three we took him snow skiing in Colorado for the first time. Went out to dinner with a huge group and their Christmas music was playing in the background. When he heard it he piped up in his very loud outside voice “Hey everybody, that’s the Steamrollers. I love them. Aren’t they great?” People were so amazed that he knew their name. Great parenting.

There is a woman across the street from me who puts up her Christmas Tree on October 1st.

This morning she put up the Christmas lights in her windows.

Yes, the Sirius station now has Christmas music. More importantly, this morning I played Christmas music on my guitar for my wife who requested it.

I work at Home Depot, and yeah, the overnight guys were setting up the Christmas stuff on September 28th. So for a little while we had a 6 foot tall Grim Reaper right next to Christmas decorations.

Our torturous Christmas music will start the day after Thanksgiving.

Forgot to say, the name Mannheim Steamroller is a reference to the classical term Mannheim Rocket, so that means they’ve at least had some classical training.

Thanks for the info... I am a huge pop and country music collector. I conduct promotional and store closing sales for mom and pop stores around the country and am always playing Christmas music (after Thanksgiving) in the stores... usually ease into the quantity as time goes on. I have the entire collections of the “standard” singers (Sinatra, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, etc.... but the jazz influence piqued my interest. Thanks for the info, Folks!

WAY too early, in my book

I have no problem with it, in fact I enjoy it.

My only complaint is with whoever the program director is. There are literally thousands of Christmas songs by hundreds of different artists but the stations only play about 30 to 40 songs over and over and over.........

Grandma got run over by a reindeer until you puke.

I like the one the Dropkick Murphys did, but it doesn’t get any air play.

The Hallmark Channel was playing Christmas movies this morning. I think they may play Christmas movies from now until Christmas, but I’m not sure about that. 60 days of corny TV Christmas movies, that is way, way too much.

I watched the end of one where Steve Guttenberg, of all the Jewish guys!, was the son of Santa Claus and wanted to get some gal to marry him and by his Mrs. Santa Claus. Just bizarrely silly. I had to watch until the end. Yes, in the end she said Yes!

I'm a sucker for Christmas movies. Even though I always know how they will end.

Spoiler Alert: Christmas will always be saved in the end!

Well, if you’ve got Hallmark Channel, you are in luck!

I actually like Hallmark Channel and their simple, good wins in the end movies.

Am familiar with the term Mannheim Rocket courtesy of my daughter-in-law. One of her degrees from Baylor is in music. They play music in their home 24/7 and all kinds except for true western and rap. Everyone in their family plays several instruments for pleasure only. Been interesting for my son who grew up in a CW and jazz only household.

Well, that's you and you're entitled to your opinion.

Hallmark has the best Christmas movies regardless of when they start and if you choose not to watch them this month then check them out in December...

No sense bad mouthing the one cable outlet that actually produces family oriented programming....../.

I did say I liked the channel, and I wouldn’t mind a month of Christmas movies, but two months is really a bit much imho.
