12/7 - Well family and friends, we’re currently driving to UVA to be admitted. Sawyer’s hemoglobin was the lowest it’s ever been this afternoon. She will require an immediate transfusion. Obviously, although we were excited, 2 weeks is too long for her to go without a transfusion. Keep ‪#‎babysawyer‬ in your prayers folks. She’s a fighter and we’re so proud of her.

12/8 - Sawyer received her fourth blood transfusion in her little 8 week life. Her hemoglobin numbers are back up, duh, and we're hoping to stabilize them over the next 24 hours.

While in the Emergency Room last night, Sawyer had her bloodiest stool ever. Because she had another one this morning, we had another nuclear scan (her 5th total). This scan was following red blood cells that had an isotope attached. The purpose was to follow the cells to look for any internal bleeding that could be causing the blood in her stool. These tests results were negative, no bleeding in the GI Tract.

We're still in picu as they are concerned about the amount of blood in her stool. We finally got a negative blood result last week and poof, here we are again.

Honestly, we don't feel like we ever left. We have seen many familiar faces, which is somewhat comforting. We're remembering how good these last 20 days at home felt and are fighting with ‪#‎babysawyer‬ to get her home soon! As her balled up fist shows in the picture, we're fighting with Sawyer Jane! !

Thank you all for your continued prayers, here is the latest.
Sawyer's brain ultrasound yesterday showed that there was no bleeding on the brain.

When we first came to the hospital Monday night, they had a hard time getting Sawyer's IV in. This is nothing new as she is repeatedly stuck because all of her tiny veins continue to blow. They put a central line in Monday night. Last night I noticed that leg was swollen and they took out the central line. We had an ultrasound at that site today and the reason for the swollen leg is that she formed a blood clot. So although she is still bleeding from somewhere unknown, she is going to be receiving a blood thinner to get rid of the clot.

For those of you wondering about a transfer: A - We can not leave before the clot is fixed. B - Her results last week had shown she was turning the corner and we had thought we wouldn't need the second opinion after all. C - I do not have many sick days left to take from work. Once they are used, I have to take unpaid leave (not the big deal). This means I would then have to pay the premium for insurance, and Sawyer is on my plan.

Again, we are so thankful for the support. There are so many people thinking about our little baby and that means everything to us.

12/11 - PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED, WE FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE BLOOD IN THE STOOL AND GI TRACT!!!!

The MRA from last night showed that Miss Sawyer has another hemangioma, besides the one at her backbone. The hemangioma was found in the bowel and surrounding areas. This is treatable! She has already started a regimen of medicines to help shrink the hemangioma and to help with the inflammation. This diagnosis does explain the different blood count issues, the blood in the stool, and can be intermittent which explains why we had good results last week but not this week.

We still have a journey ahead of us. Besides seeing if this treatment works, we could still have transfusions until the bleeding is stopped. We will still have the MRI's every few weeks to check that the hemangiomas aren't growing in size or spreading throughout the body.

We have a diagnosis. We have a treatment plan set up. Woohoo! Thank you for your prayers! They are truly working. ‪#‎babysawyer
