The San Diego Chargers will file for relocation to Los Angeles when the NFL opens the application window in January, Mark Fabiani told The Mighty 1090 AM radio show.

“At this point yes, because there's no sign that the other team or teams are not going to file,” said Fabiani, who serves as the Chargers’ special counsel. “Everyone assumes all three teams will file, and in that case we can't afford to lose our market in Los Angeles and Orange County.”

Maybe for promotion, but carte Blanche already started.

Are Carte Blanche and Diners Club cards still in existence??

I had a Diners Club many years ago, but gave it up since so many places also accept Visa and MasterCard. I didn’t want to have too many credit cards.

I like it when football teams get moved around.

Baltimore Colts...no wait!

NFL Europe is gone. This will be the first team move in over 20 years, most of the rule changes are trying to keep players from getting hurt. The cap isn’t to protect owners from themselves, it’s to keep the rich from getting richer, build parity, and result in the Any Given Sunday league that was Rozelle’s goal. And the pink is toning down.

Great!
L.A. has steadfastly refused to support a football team since forever, and now not one, but two of the teams previously cast off in favor of Dodger-ball, soccer and basketball are considering joint tenancy on a yet to be determined new stadium.
Brilliant!

>>All I am saying is that if a team wants something financial from the public, then the public should receive an equity interest in the team. In other words, I don’t believe in welfare for billionaires. I know that there are some people who believe that government’s most important function is to assist the wealthy, but I don’t view government that way. If the price is right, I have no problem with the state purchasing an equity interest that will return a profit.<<

You are morally correct but the only team that has shares to the public is the Packers and the shares are now considered ceremonial (but worth a bundle on the open market).

So long as people clamor for a team to have some meaning (or to have something to do in the Winter), the stick-em-up game will go on.

L.A. is different because we are the most devastating fans: if you don’t win WE DON’T CARE. That is why the Rams left — no one gave a hoot.

Likewise none of the electorate in L.A. (city or county) cares whether there is an NFL team there or not.

So they are back to the “how much will you pay us, NFL” game combined with “not a dime of taxpayer money will go into this.”

But L.A. is the exception.

>>Baltimore Colts...no wait!<<

Baltimore Colts goes to Indianapolis Colts. Cleveland Browns goes to Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland Browns are replaced by... the Cleveland Browns?

Now the L.A. Chargers might be... the L.A. Chargers?

LOL
