Something like this happened in SC when I lived there. A Beaufort County Deputy stopped a guy for a traffic violation and passingly asked where he was coming from.
The driver stated he was coming from robbing the Starvin’ Marvin down the road. “Oh!” Says the officer as he goes back to his car and radios dispatch asking if such a robbery had occurred. Sure enough, one had and the driver had done it.
