Motoped Survival Bike Looks Like a Million Bucks
Autoevolution ^ | 4/9/15 | FLORIN TIBU

The Motoped Black Ops is a shameless, shallow grab for attention that has 100 percent done its job on me. A zombie hunting moped? Seriously? But the product behind it is actually pretty sweet. A highly customizable moped with a 500-mile (805 km) range, 200 mpg (1.2 L/100km) efficiency and heavy-duty engineering. It easily converts to an ultralight dirtbike if you swap the 49cc stock engine for something larger, and its long travel suspension should make it pretty capable on dirt tracks.

Ran across this tonight kind of cool.

With the crossbow I wonder if it is Daryl approved?

Oh yes. The Iphone on the handlebars will be great with the grid down. I guess you can listen to Itunes...Oh wait the net is down too.

Well there’s the GOP/Mapping...Oh wait that won’t work either.

Does no one THINK about the basics when designing this stuff?

My first motorcycles were a Whizzer, then a Moped. Like your first love, you never forget them.

Is that a scope on the righthand side? What kind of weapon is that?

Looks great - until you run out of gas. Then it’s a millstone around your neck.

Just sayin’

Mopeds have a lot in common with fat gals. They’re both a hell of a lot of fun to ride but you don’t want your buddies to find out.

49cc Mopeds and scooters were fairly popular around here for a while, until the state changed the laws and required licenses and insurance for them. Some of the local DUI types went scooter while they waited to get their licenses back. Now they drive around in golf carts.

I read years ago about a diesel motorcycle that got over 100 mpg and had more power than this. In fact, the problem with diesel motorcycles is making a drive line that can handle the load.

Still do, here. They're "liquor-sickles" (cycles) in the local slang.

Hope that hank of rope doesn’t come undone and get caught up in the rear wheel spokes at top speed.

“I guess you can listen to Itunes..Oh wait the net is down too.”

Camera, internet if you arrive somewhere with wifi, and in my phone I have thousands of songs and podcasts that do not require net. Or the ability to jot down notes. Look at your photo gallery for morale reasons. Use of a calculator. A clock that operates without net. LED flashlight function. Compass works without a network. etc etc,,,

And about the net, it will exist long after every cell net is gone. It literally designed to survive a nuclear war and route around damage. Weighs nothing, and might be very cool to have when you get somewhere.

“Looks great - until you run out of gas. Then it’s a millstone around your neck.”

Pedals, long downhills of several miles, ability to carry large loads and gear.

And with the grid down, traveling the world by moped, you charge it where? Working generators won’t be common and gas to run them will quickly get consumed.

And if the apocalypse involves nukes, all that calc goodness might be fried anyway.

Weight is weight. It adds up.
