Maybe he’s not totally nuts, and did this because he’s really Hashem-fearing, and wanted to show how nuts transgenders and, by extension, homosexuals are.

This is VERY COMMON.

The mental discomfort these people who clearly have a brain problem go through is real. They think maybe living as the opposite sex will finally free them. For most, it doesn’t, and then they don’t know quite what to do. Many do try and go back. Suicide is high.

This is a brain illness and we should try to find a way to prevent or fix it. I hurt for people like Jenner. How horrible it must be not to feel “right” even in your gender.
