There was a story a couple of years ago about a replica tall ship that was lost at sea, near the carolinas, because they decided to sail during another hurricane. Several people lost their lives.

That was the replica HMS Bounty from the 1962 film with Marlo Brando.

Her engine was inop, she was under sail and hove into a storm. Without power Bounty could not be brought into the wind and she foundered. Heartbreaking pics of her mast tops as she disappeared.

Don’t recall if there was loss of life.

As for the Faro, I see container ships entering Savannah harbor & for the life of me can’t comprehend how they don’t capsize with all those containers stacked to the sky on deck.

That was the HMS Bounty.

It sank during Hurricane Sandy. Only two crew were not rescued. One was recovered, unresponsive, and later pronounced dead. The other, the captain, was not recovered.
