As if they suddenly came to an epiphany, the United States Air Force brass is now admitting what many of us have been screaming about for so long: We didnt build nearly enough F-22s, and the F-35 cannot simply pick up the slack.

Now on to saving the A-10..... build new F-22’s and new A-10s triple the numbers if possible.
Triple?
Demand octuple!
(Maybe we’d compromise on quintuple and actually get triple...)
You little zero based budget’r yew .....:o)
Ask for 5 get three .....good point. I forgot we’re bargaining with socialist rats.
Hope yer well... stay safe !
These type of stories just chafe my hyde. I guarantee that after they kill the a-10, we will hear about the desperate need for a-10’s due to some “unforseen” circumstances. Idiots.
Oh, wait . . .
And with the money saved buy more F-22s and A-10s. The Scorpion can handle 90% of the jobs the Air Force does.
Productive citizens: ask for 8, settle for 5, get 3.
Deadbeats: demand 2, settle for 3, get 5...
That brings back memories from my military days. My EOD team supply NCOIC worked our budget the same way..... then came end of fiscal year , September was use it or lose it free for all pretty much in all forms of goobermint .... We weren’t too bad at it, Fall out money it was called.....usually enough left over to snag some fill in the janitorial and admin supply lockers. Money spent was for NF1 or NF2 categories of expendable or inventoried / accountable equipment....and that would be pretty close at the end of the year if your NCOIC in supply was good at what he did , Others were like we’re talking budget like we are here. Order three times as much as ya need, bankers cut ya by a third and your still ahead of the game ....:o)
I’ve gotten slightly more cynical in my dotage...
Wrong type of aircraft, completely. Deploy B-52s and saturation bomb every last moving thing on the ground. None of them are our friends.
Perhaps, but the A-10 and F-22 can do wonders for provided the B-52 a safe sky in which to operate.
I await the retirement of the A-10 so that they may be offered for sale to the public via the CMP. Hahahaha! I think they would look pretty nice with a 3%er insignia on the tail.
Bumping,
Some PMs to me have noted that F-117s are still flying. This is true and are probably serving as testbeds for avionics upgrades to both the F-22 and F-35.
I wish I could say that the F-22 production would be restarted once sanity prevails, but the way this country is heading, it is not possible.
Lockheed has probably learned enough from both the Raptor and Lightning airframes to build a better moustrap of an air superiority fighter, and would probably kick out an F-22C that would make the PAK-FA and J-20 prototypes as killable as a MIG-23. However, in the end, government is the end to all, and the stealer of defense funds for social experiments in both the military and on the citizens of the USA.
