There was quite a pissing match going on with this prior to launch I’m sure.
Backward compatibility has always been Microsoft’s strong point.
Not Apples.
Apple is taking the hit on this and rightly so. It just works? Except when we break it.

Ahh...most FReepers are reasonably intelligent and knowledgeable. I don’t think either of those words fit you however...unless your post here is aberrant. Apple developers and programmers don’t develop and program Microsoft’s software. Microsoft programmers do that and they also test their own software and they SHOULD fix any bugs in THEIR software and applications. Try to read and UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING COMMENT I PREVIOUSLY DIRECTED YOUR WAY:
Do you have even the slightest comprehension that this is a Microsoft problem? Just as other companies that want to use Apple products to run their app or software, Microsoft is given (WELL IN ADVANCE) developer copies of the upcoming Apple software and specs. This is to allow those companies developers to update THEIR applications so they are compliant and work correctly. To the extent that Microsoft neglected to correctly update Office 2016, it (Microsoft) is at fault.
But perhaps that doesnt fit your desired narrative?
MS had free-and-clear access to every beta of El Capitan, yet apparently they did absolutely NOTHING to even look at compatibility with El Capitan... How utterly typical of MS.
By the way - very few apps required significant changes for El Capitan compatibility - only change really “necessary” for most would be to take advantage of the split screen stuff...
