When I was in high school, I think we studied Muslims (back then they were “Moslems”) in the early 70’s. We did not get into the tenets of the “religion” at all. Probably all we learned was that they worshiped Allah, Mohammed was his prophet, and they raped and pillaged their way across North Africa and Spain and almost over-ran Europe. That was enough back then.
When I started high school in the late 1950s (class of '61) they were called Mohammadans and we were taught that they spread their faith by the sword, but were eventually evicted by the sword.
