The fault here is in calling our God by the generic - God. I have taken to calling him by name for exactly this reason. Yahweh/Yahovah/Jehovah is not Allah.

Over 50 yrs. ago, we had an exchange student from Turkey
at our high school. (They told us Allah was just “their
name for God”. The teachers meant well, I reckon.) It was
rough on that Turkish girl; culture shock & also having
to deal with jealous little girls in the host household.
In fact, she had to move to another family before the year
was over. She was very courteous; but the Muslim thing
was a part of her.
