A group of hikers in Tyrol were attacked by three aggressive mountain bikers on Saturday afternoon as they descended the Rumer Alm in the Innsbruck Land district. One of the hikers suffered multiple lacerations.
Police told local media that five hikers were descending from the alm towards the valley at around 5.30pm when they were overtaken at high speed by a mountain biker.
The group called after the biker that he should slow down - at which point he stopped and put one of the hikers in a stranglehold. The man struggled to free himself and the biker sped off down the valley.
When the hikers reached the Siebenwegekreuzung they found the biker was waiting for them with two friends. They knocked one of the group, a 58-year-old man, to the ground and kicked him. One of the bikers hit him in the face with his helmet, and the man suffered multiple cuts on his head and bruising on his chest. When the mans wife tried to come to his aid one of the cyclists punched her in the stomach.
Police are now looking for the three mountain bikers, who are between 20 and 25 years old and speak High German. One of the men has blond, curly hair and "piercing" blue eyes. Another is described as short, with dark hair and an athletic build. Two of the men were riding downhill mountain bikes and one was on an ordinary mountain bike.
High German???????
.
Kind of lets out 'refugees' as the culprits.
German biker gang.
Highland or Alpine as opposed to lowland or coastal 'Low German'. Like the difference between Yankee and Southern English. Or, perhaps Oxford and Southern English.
Which is why I always carry a knife.
Hoch Deutsch, a.k.a. High / Northern / Proper German, as opposed to Platz Deutsch, a.k.a. Low / Southern / Low class German. Approximately.
What they mean is these people spoke, "proper, formal," German. A Swiss dialect called, "Schweizerdeutsch," is unintelligible to most German speakers.
Or, they were stoned.
Ist es zwei und viertzig jetzt?
“Nobody tells meeeee to slow down...harumph!”
Stupid kids. They are in needing of beating.
I would have come down from that hike with a nice freshly made club in hand. I'll bet the biker jerks would have moved off real quick.
Not many more beautiful spots in the world to get beat up I guess.
TG. Clearly this biker attack needs your attention!
High German = “Heil Hitler”
Sounds like an infamous San Francisco critical mass bike event. Minus the “mass”.
It was one of the best summers of my life, hard to think of one that tops it.
IBTG!
I have noticed this attitude everywhere. Never dare question anyone’s choices about anything, anywhere, anytime. They will turn and strike like a rattlesnake.
My little theory about the origin of this is that it grows in the absence of an acknowledgment of God. If I see myself as God, then for you to question my behavior is to invalidate my existence. Every choice I make, including rudeness, is Holy and must not be questioned!
I’m just wondering why they shouted for him to slow down in the first place?
Slow one gets out of the way is usually trail courtesy.
I just take my Rottweiler when walking.and my model 19.
