And often forgotten about the Battle of France is how hard the allies fought. It gets portrayed as a German cakewalk today.
In the 6 weeks, (not nine days) the Germans lost around 50,000 dead, 150,000 total casualties, lost about 800 tanks and 1200 aircraft.

German fanboys today like to act like it was a minor skirmish with Germans simply rolling almost untouched. It was a bitter hard fought battle won by the Germans because of their new tactics. Hitler was avoiding a WWI redux. The German victory was not because the British and French had poor fighting spirit.

Not even that ... two days to get thru the Ardennes forest, one day to get over the unguarded bridge at Sedan - the only one on the whole Western Front. By the time they had crossed over, the fate of France was sealed, the rest was just a race to the coast.
