No I was talking about the book. Did not see the movie. The line abreast coast to coast thing was the stupidest garbage I think I have ever read. Clearly someone who never has been outside a major city or any where near the West. How does the line abreast cross major swaps? Mountain ranges? deep canyons? Major rivers with all their surrounding wetlands? The writer clearly had no clue how big and rough this country really is.
A bounty paid to private hit squads would have made more sense.

The solution in the book to those areas was to call them in and shoot them from a well equipped and supplied defensive square.

Made sense to me. Remember the offensive didn’t start for something like two or three years after the country was overrun so the situation was fairly static. With their newly developed techniques, the mobile zombie hoards were taken down. Along the way they broke into squads and eliminated them house to house. The book clearly illustrated that two people clear out a house, one stays on overwatch.

I’m sure hard to reach pockets were bypassed and marked for later cleanup. And the book said they constantly had problems with thawing zombies and the ones who washed ashore.
