An 11-month-old Chicago boy witnessed tragedy late on Monday evening as he saw an unidentified shooter wipe out two generations of his family on his front porch. His pregnant mother and grandmother were those killed in an alleged case of random shootings that rocked the Back of the Yards neighborhood in South Chicago, according to latest reports emerging in the media.
The shootings spurred an emergency medical services response to the 5300 block of South Aberdeen Street after multiple people were reportedly shot, according to Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Frank Velez.

It was actually THREE generations of the family that had someone killed in the shooting. I count the pregnant mother’s child being carried.
I’m finding that I need to know more about the victims, and their hand in creating the environment in which they lived, before I invest any emotion or consideration into stories like this one. I only have so much bandwidth. Sorry if this comes off as a lack of compassion.

Would the child rescued have the same father as the yet-to-born child?
Will the DA bring charges for 3 murders or simply 2 murders and an additional charge of performing and abortion without a license?

The phrase 'Wiped Out', what a cold way to describe it under these circumstances.

The Google Steetview reveals a working class/lower middle class neighborhood that looks pleasant, almost benign. A couple of blocks from Sherman Park, one of the Windy City's many beautiful public venues. Racine Avenue facing the park seems to have some run down buildings otherwise the picture is a deceptive one of tranquility. Houses seem well maintained, no junk filled empty lots and no obviously derelict structures. Freepers who really know Chicago should comment on what seems to be unfolding there.

Sorry, I didn’t say the third generation was “wiped out”. My words were “...THREE generations of the family that had someone killed in the shooting...”.
And, if we want to be picky, the Mom’s generation and the Grandmother’s generation MAY not have been wiped out as they may have had members of their generations live on also. If we want to quibble, we can quibble with the writer of the article for their possibly incorrect language.
The way the 2nd sentence is written the grandmother was also pregnant so that would be 4 lives taken.

In the Back of the Yards shooting, a family was getting out of their car in the 5300 block of South Aberdeen Street around 7:15 p.m. when another car drove up and shots were fired, according to Deputy Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy.
The boy’s mother, Patricia Chew, was shot in the right side and his grandmother, Lolita Wells, was shot in the leg, according to relatives and police. Both were pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.
...A police officer took the 11-month-old boy, Princeton Chew, to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the side. The baby underwent a CT scan and his condition was stabilized.

People on their way back from a family gathering, simply getting out of their car. The cowards that did this need to be captured and dealt with in the most severe way.
