Why Ordinary People Bear Economic Risks and Donald Trump Doesn’t
Bill Moyers.com ^ | 9/22/14 | Robert Reich

Thirty years ago, on its opening day in 1984, Donald Trump stood in a dark topcoat on the casino floor at Atlantic City’s Trump Plaza, celebrating his new investment as the finest building in Atlantic City and possibly the nation.

Last week, the Trump Plaza folded and the Trump Taj Mahal filed for bankruptcy, leaving some 1,000 employees without jobs.

Trump, meanwhile, was on twitter claiming he had “nothing to do with Atlantic City,” and praising himself for his “great timing” in getting out of the investment.

In America, people with lots of money can easily avoid the consequences of bad bets and big losses by cashing out at the first sign of trouble.

The laws protect them through limited liability and bankruptcy.

But workers who move to a place like Atlantic City for a job, invest in a home there and build their skills, have no such protection. Jobs vanish, skills are suddenly irrelevant and home values plummet.

They’re stuck with the mess.

Why did employees not get out when Trump did? Wait, they were still getting paid and still had a job. But surely they were training in their off hours and looking for a new job - not only were Atlantic City’s issues well known but they were on the front lines, they would see it every day.

What? They ignored the opinions of experts and assumed they’d have a job for life?

THE ARTICLE, not at all recent is another example of the mental masturbation the media from both sides throw upon us.

They’re stuck with the mess.

And who created the mess. King Obama with the help of the MSM and the Fed Reserve. These are the communists Democrats, in the House and Senate, that have destroyed the economy. Trump had nothing to do with Atlantic City crashing. Atlantic City is a cess pool of corruption and the Democrats destroyed it piece by piece. Trump tried to help the city with the casino but the city decided to hell with Trump.

‘Workers’ invested in the ‘Gambling Industry’ lose their jobs.

Just think about that.

Robert Reich? Really?

Do you always cruise around leftist websites looking for hit pieces to post on sites like FR?

This place is becoming v-e-r-y odd.

And of course none of this has anything to do with New Jersey being in the top 5 of any list of states with the worst taxes, right?

The amazing thing about this to me is that the same Trump supporters who will post and cite comments from leftist economics professors to support their contention that Fiorina was such a bad businessperson will howl and scream when another leftist economics professor says something negative about Trump's business practices. Login and intellectual consistency does not seem to be their strong suit.

This is far from the only example:

When Trump says nice things about Hillary and Obama, he is being a shrewd businessman; when Fiorina does it, she is showing she is a RINO.

When Trump donates to Democrats, he is merely "playing the game"; when Fiorina does it, she is showing her true colors.

When Trump changes his position from pro-choice to pro-life, it is because it is a sincere change of heart; when Fiorina does it, it is just a ploy to win votes.

When Trump makes insulting comments about other candidate, he is "showing that he knows how to fight"; when any other candidate criticizes Trump for ANYTHING, they are just a tool of the establishment trying to take Trump down.

When Hillary and the Dems tried to stop Citizens United from showing their film about Hillary, conservatives were outraged about the attack on the 1st Amendment; when Trump threatens to sue the CFG to force them to stop airing negative ads about him, Trump supporters say "what 1st Amendment?"

I could go on, but you get the point...

I think it has something to do with Trump having “f*** you” money.

So has Bill Moyers. He parlayed a job in the Johnson administration into a decades long gig on PBS. It is difficult o think of a more arrogant self-righteous peckerhead (okay, one not in office) than Bill Moyers.

Other casinos were established after Trump’s. Why didn’t these folks get jobs in those casinos?

Bill Moyers and Robert Reich? You consider them reliable sources do you?

...

The article isn’t a hit piece on Donald Trump. It’s about the disparity between bankruptcy available to some, but not to all, and the points mostly look valid.

It's not required to post articles from leftists to understand Fiorina was a business disaster. There are sources all over the place. Have you not seen them?
