True. But it behooves one to do their due diligence on that. Some drugs simply lose potency as they age, a few can actually become toxic. Best method of storage may vary also. Fortunately I have a great doctor who will give me the straight info. Most pharmacists will not for liability reasons.
Aspirin is a drug best not kept beyond its use date, as an example.
Due diligence is always a good idea.
Most antibiotics will last a decade or so, with the possible exception of tetracycline, when properly stored. Aspirin is indeed an exception. However ibuprofen, acetomenophine, and naproxen are not.
Amoxicillin, ampicillin, penicillin, and erythromycin are well documented as well. Others like Cipro are suitable for long term storage. Don’t forget sulfa variants if you can lay your hands on them.
If you budget for it you can lay in a surprising amount of meds that will deal with 90% of situations one can reasonably plan for IMO. Beyond that things are up to the Almighty. Right?
But the Lord helps those who help themselves.
Best,
L
Aspirin has a distinct and unpleasant smell when it has passed it's useful life.
