The harvest season is upon us. Apples are almost ready, tomatoes daily. Hazel and Hickory nuts are ready, peppers already being processed. Raspberries are having a bumper year as did the strawberries, the beans won't quit. Joe Bastardi said this was going to be a garden of Eden in our area and he nailed it. The whole month of September looks to be gorgeous with no freezing in sight.

The main vegetable garden is elsewhere but Mary did have a lot in the flower area this year do to some rebuilding of areas and the addition of a ton of manure to fill the new raised beds that I put in last year.

That’s beautiful. I really like including the edibles with the flowers there.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures. My front rose bed is needing a reworking. The roses got sick during our very dry summer a couple of years ago, and Hubby thought the wild petunias were pretty and unbeknownst to me, kept throwing the seeds into the rose bed.

Pretty soon the bed was full of the petunias and choking what was left of the roses. They have pretty flowers, but are ugly after blooming.

Planning to yank them out soon, plant some bulbs for spring, improve the soil too, and figure out what else I’ll plant for summer blooms.

Hickory Nuts- ours are so hard to crack and then you can’t hardly get the meat out.

How are you using them?
