(CNN)—An actress best known for "Star Trek: Voyager" was arrested on September 3.

Jennifer Lien, who played Kes in the first few seasons of the "Star Trek" spinoff series, has been charged with indecent exposure.

According to CNN affiliate WATE, Lien was arrested in her home in Harriman, Tennessee.

Neighbor Carey Smith told WATE that Lien came by her home to comment on how Smith's children were being raised and started using vulgar language.

"All of a sudden, here come the shirt up," said Smith.

"She started flashing and, 'Woo hoo,' and I said, 'And what respect is that for kids?' There was none. And then she turned around and dropped her pants."

According to the affiliate, Lien was found naked on her couch by deputies and resisted walking to the patrol car after threatening to kill the officers.

Mental illness is a terrible thing.

Indeed it is. We deal with it in our family and it's not something I'd wish on any family.

I wonder if this results in her? being registered as a sex offender.

We all know it would be a given if she was a man, which she? practically is.

Yes, excellent series. The relationships among the characters were interesting. The Neelix-Tuvok dynamic was fun. (Neelix always just called Tuvok “Mr. Vulcan”.)

That was entertaining. Reminds me of the episode "Tuvix" where the Neelix and Tuvok characters are merged into one thru a transporter accident. (Amazing how many transporter accidents there have been over the years in Star Trek. Those suckers are dangerous!)

Yeah, from TOS all the way through to Voyager (and the prequel Enterprise), the transporter seems to malfunction with some frequency. Must have been built by the government.

Her husband denied the charges. Even if true, he didn’t force her into anything.

I don’t think I would repeat my husband’s sexual fantasies to a bunch of lawyers and the court. Especially if I was a public person with a child. It probably made no difference in any money she received or the speed of the divorce being granted.

The official explanation for her firing is that someone had to go in order to make room for Jeri Ryan. The producers decided to kill off Ensign Kim. Indeed, in the third season finale, his fate is left up in the air.

Then something funny happened during summer hiatus. People Magazine ran it's 50 Most Beautiful People issue, and in a surprise to everyone reading, Harry Kim (Garrett Wang) made the list. The producers back-pedaled and decided to use this as a means to boost the show's popularity, and opted to get rid of Lien instead.

That said, I never bought this, because just two years prior, Deep Space Nine added Worf to the cast without letting any of the regulars go to make room.

Yeah, I remember reading that claim. She was a pretty actress, but a bit of an odd fit on the show and not much chemistry with Neelix, her “love interest.” It seemed clear she was explicitly targeted to be pushed out to emphasize Jeri Ryan. As I postulated, I don’t think she ever quite got over being let go and her career went nowhere over the next several years until she dropped out completely. Of course, that wouldn’t be the first time that happened to an actor or actress.
