Team Romney Joins the Fight Against Voter Support for Trump
Gateway Pundit ^ | 09/13/2015 | Jim Hoft

2012, many conservatives held their nose and reluctantly voted for the grandfather of Obamacare in an attempt to take their country back from a lawless President.

A tepid Team Romney refused to bring full force to bear against Obama, and the country has suffered tremendously for it. Earlier this year, the idea of Romney running again was briefly floated only to be resoundingly shot down by conservatives. Enter the rise of Trump – everything Romney is not: strong, authentic, unapologetic and artful at marketing. Now, we get word that Team Romney has joined the forces behind the Trump take-down attempt.

This does seem incredibly disloyal, given that Trump endorsed Romney in 2012, hosted fundraisers for him and donated millions to his PAC.

“We are united,” said one former Romney aide who did not wish to be identified, according to the Boston Globe.

“It’s a common goal, and not just for Romney people, but for anyone invested in Republicanism, conservatism, and anyone who gives a flying [expletive] about what we’re trying to do here. Even if you’re not getting paid, this isn’t good for anybody,” he said.

“Well, I’m disappointed in Mitt Romney,” Trump replied. “He is the one that’s leading it, and he was a failure,” Trump replied. “This is pure Romney trying to get back in” to politics.

He called Romney’s 2012 presidential run “a disaster,” adding that “Obama won an election that should have been run by the Republicans.”

Every time Trump is attacked (in particular by the GOPe) he gets stronger. Yet they keep shoveling the hole.

This remains one of the great mysteries of my time. Why would team Romney be so gentle on Obama the Marxist?

What a tepid, ineffective pretend candidate. How we have suffered the last 3 years because of Romney's incompetence or duplicity.

Well, if there’s anyone who knows how to turn off voters, it’s Mitt Romney.

OMGOSH, I hope Romney comes out and opens his mouth against Trump....

(I just bought stock in Popcorn and pepsi)

That would put a total end to Mitty and the rest of the GOPe....

They really think Mitty could stand toe to toe with Trump? Trump would take one wipe, like a gnat buzzing around his head, and Mitty would run like hell hath no fury back to his hole....

ROFLMAO....that’s the best laugh I have had all morning!!!

The eGOP (establishment GOP, Romney, Karl Rove, Bush, etc)) thinks it is conservative. Not only isn’t it conservative, it isn’t even American! It represents foreign interests over America and Americans!

Exactly and that has been my point here on FR. Posters who use the word conservative. It is subjective - everyone thinks they are conservative - just what does that mean? Romney is conservative? Best laugh I’ve had all morning. Romney is a puke and he needs to pay attention to his magic underwear and go away.

Wasn’t Romney/his team sort of pushing for that other guy — the younger one, Hispanic, Gang of 8 amnesty, uh, what’s his name?, the water bottle guy.

The last thing the GOPe needed was an article like this.

Now Trump can also run against Romney, whether or not Romney’s in the race.

What ARE you trying to do here, Romney?

Romney and the eGOP are trying to keep the eGOP members in power against the will of the American people. What we want is of no concern to them, they just want to keep their own power. Screw them!

We saw it in the 2012 Virginia gubernatorial race, now we’re seeing it at a national level—If the GOP-e can’t have their preferred candidate, they’ll do anything and everything to take down the Republican front-runner/nominee.

The primary reason I now consider myself a conservative, not a Republican.

That’s the problem.

The GOPe wants Trump out of the race in the worst way. He is a threat to their comfortable status quo. They don’t want him in their sandbox and will spend whatever it takes to take him down. Look what the GOPe did to the Tea Party. Trump is an ever bigger threat to them so expect this effort to ramp up big time.

Trump’s biggest challenge will be fighting his own party.

Romney thinks he’s some kind of elder statesman, like Nixon.

Romney won EXACTLY ONE election in his whole life. He lost to Kennedy, lost to McCain and lost to Obama.

Not a word out of his mouth should be listened to.

That's because Trump has become more than just a candidate. He is a touchstone by which the fed up millions can quickly discern who the statist/elistist wannabe overlords are. Other pols quickly sort themselves in the voters' eyes by their reactions to Trump.

the republican party has been taken over by individuals that feel that being involved in politics is there birthright. politics for this group is not about what they can do for there fellow Americans but how they can benefit from being in there positions in government.

“Trump’s biggest challenge will be fighting his own party.”

Ironically, that was Reagans fight, too. The eGOP hated Reagan as much as they hate Trump.
