Huckabee Campaign Blocks Ted Cruz From Media at Kim Davis Rally (VIDEO)
The Right Scoop ^ | 9/92015 | The Right Scoop

Posted on 09/09/2015 7:11:55 AM PDT by conservativejoy

I heard about this last night but I didn’t know there was video of this incident. In fact I was hoping the reporting was wrong or exaggerated because it’s so stupid for a campaign to try and take all the ‘glory’ on an issue that isn’t even partisan. But that’s exactly what Huckabee did, as you’ll see in the video below his campaign staffer or aide refusing to allow Ted Cruz to simply get to the media who wanted to interview him. I mean, what the heck?

Here’s the write up on it:

NY TIMES – Of the two presidential contenders who attended the rally, it was Mr. Huckabee, making his second White House run, who grabbed the political spotlight. Before Ms. Davis appeared, Mr. Huckabee and Mr. Staver took the stage to tell the crowd, in unison, “Kim Davis is free.”

When Mr. Cruz, who met with Ms. Davis, exited the Carter County Detention Center, a throng of journalists beckoned him toward their microphones, but an aide to Mr. Huckabee blocked the path of the senator, who appeared incredulous.

Soon after, Ms. Davis emerged, apparently wearing the same clothes she had worn in court Thursday. Mr. Huckabee stuck close by her side, along with Mr. Staver and her husband, Joe, as they approached the reporters and cameras. Ms. Davis remained silent, letting Mr. Staver and Mr. Huckabee do the talking.

Mr. Huckabee, a former Baptist pastor, cast the dispute as a matter of religious freedom threatened by overreaching courts, while Mr. Cruz stood to the side, keeping an unusually low profile.

Let’s contrast this to a rally Cruz is holding today on stopping the Iran deal. Instead of making it all about himself, he actually invited Donald Trump to share the stage in order to bring as much attention to this issue as possible. That’s a pretty big deal considering Trump is stomping everyone in the polls right now.

Huckabee could learn a thing or two from Cruz

Huckabee didn’t do anything wrong. Cruz team is a pack of whiners because they don’t their their guy got enough face time. They look like opportunists. I do not blame Cruz. I blame his supporters. Still, I am voting for Huckabee over this ridiculous nonsense. What everyone should be talking about is the issue. Instead team Cruz is whining about not getting enough face time. It was about KIN and the issue of religious freedom.

Shame on all of you.

Good for you. Just hope that a President Huckster doesn’t release murders into your neighborhood.

Huckelbuck is doing the same thing he always does whenever a republican election starts up by trying to usurp any real Conservative from getting a foothold.

Oh to see his list of left wing donors...it would be a big AH HA moment.

Yes, Cruz invited Huckabee to the rally in DC.

The Huckster was ordered to get into the race by Roger Ailes to block Cruz, so the favored boy Jeb could win.

He served the same purpose for Romney.

He needs to take himself, and his gay, animal-killing son, back to AR.

Sorry you had a problem. There is another thread that posted after this one. Maybe you’ll have better luck there.

One thing you can bet on FNC will not mention this. Huck would be disturbed.
Never understood why anyone thought he was even conservative, those who do never did their research.
Cruz has faith that exudes and truly influences his life, at least that how it strokes me.

And Mr. Cruz proved that he's the real gentleman

I don't see it that way. If they wanted to come, and he didn't allow that, of course he'll get payback. Wouldn't it have been better for them to be there if they wanted and Cruz show leadership over their time there? Besides, what's this about it's okay for Glenn Beck to be there but not Mike Huckabee?

I don't dislike Huckabee or the function he can serve in the campaign. There's no doubt that he's on our side on issues like what's happening to Christians. In his interview, he went fact-for-fact with Stephanopoulos and was impressive, probably won on points if it had been scored.

Sorry....I just don't get the point of marginalizing Huckabee. A lot of conservatives respect him and listen to him.

This Huck childishness aside. I cannot think of a single reason to vote for Huckster anyway. And the last thing we need is a national preacher.

My take away from the two events was that (a) The Davis thing is going to turn into en embarrassment for all concerned, (b) both Huck and the Donald used all their time campaigning for votes, and (c) Cruz did just as advertised - campaigning for a conservative policy.

Huckster and Trump have either jumped the shark (Huck) or are rapidly approaching the shark (Trump).
Cruz, however, comes across as smart, consistent, and a gentleman.

You missed the whole point .. and I will not go back and repeat everything I said about this.

You can bitch at Cruz if you want .. but he was treated horribly by Huckabee .. and to make Cruz the person in the wrong shows how ignorant you are.

Go back and read all the messages .. and then please don’t bother telling me you figured it out.

You missed my point. My concern was based on one premise. IF Cruz did not invite Huckabee to that DC rally, why should Huckabee let Cruz participate in his. My question was whether or not that's what happened.

FWIW, calling folks who follow things and who are among the original supporters of Cruz "ignorant" does not help your candidate.

I doubt he's a choice of the puppetmasters

The Huckster was paid in advance (Fox TV gig) to split the conservative Christian vote in 2016 ...

Watch. After the Huckster's "work is done" in 2016 ... surprise, surprise ... he'll be back on Fox again ...

What a Tool !

Interesting....I’d never thought of that aspect. What a shame. Huckabee is one of the best with a factual, articulate articulation of conservative values.

I mostly agree.

Huckabee supporters are happy that their guy stiff-armed Cruz.

Cruz supporterts are ticked that their guy got stiff-armed.

Most GOP primary voters, let alone general election voters, won’t remember or care about the details of the rally.

If the situation with Davis goes South, Huckabee takes the hit from being such a visible presence.

If it doesn’t go South, Huckabee may derive a slight benefit, but the people who are going to care will also remember that Cruz was there too. And will be reminded of it by Cruz supporters.

So Huckabee took an increased risk that at best will convey negligible additional positive benefits as a payoff. While Cruz gets just about the same benefits but without the additional risk.
