Posted on 09/08/2015 11:39:37 AM PDT by pabianice

Have a TomTom 4ET03 car GPS. Cannot locate anywhere on the net the option to download/update the map database. Can anyone give me a pointer?

Thanks.

Enter the serial number of your unit here:

If your unit doesn't appear, it is not upgradable. If it does appear, you will need to throw money at TomTom.

Second the other poster, if you’ve got a smartphone and a car charger, just use waze.

If this is an older TomTom with the SD card slot then you can find sites on the web where you can load new maps and the latest operating systems onto an SD card and run off of that... bypassing the stickup $$$ that is the map upgrade charge. If you can use a usb cable to connect it to your computer and you can access your TomTom like a thumb drive you can update it...

Yeah. Update is 39.95 pounds ($61.52). I can get a new GPS unit for that. Greedy buggers.

Garmin is just as bad. I needed to update my old Garmin and it was just a little more to buy a new unit with lifetime map updates included.
