Ali was a media created fraud.
In reality Ali was mediocre heavyweight fighter as compared to the best heavyweight champions.

As soon as Spinks finished fighting his two 15 round fight with Ali (where Ali scored no knockdowns in the 30 rounds they fought)
Spinks was knocked out in the first round by Gerrie Coetzee of South Africa.
NOBODY in the news media called Gerrie Coetzee the ‘greatest fighter of all time’ despite the fact that Leon Spinks was unable to last three minutes of the first round with Coetzee.
Yet they called the fact that their Ali lost a 15 round decision and his title to seven fight novice Spinks and then struggled with novice Spinks for 15 rounds in their 2nd fight to ‘regain’ the title as proof that Ali was their ‘greatest of all time’.
Ali won the title originally in two obviously fixed fights with Sonny Liston. Ali was the recipient of more bad “decisions” in fights he obviously lost than any fighter in history (Doug Jones, Ken Norton, Jimmy Young, Ernie Shavers, etc. etc.
Ali was no more the “greatest of all time” than Obama is the greatest US president.
The left wing “news” media sold him because he supposedly matched their ‘Vietnam War is bad’ mindset.
In actuality Ali had the mentality of a 12 year old (that’s being generous) and parroted what his Nation of Islam handlers ordered him to say.
Ali’s boxing manager was Herbert Muhammed, son of Nation of Islam head Elijah Muhammed.
Before Ali “won” the title from Sonny Liston, members of the Nation of Islam from the main mosque in Chicago visited Liston and showed him photographs they had taken of his wife coming down the front steps of his house in Las Vegas—and of his mother standing in an aisle of a grocery store in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she lived.
Liston forgot how to fight.
The same Liston, who as a young fighter had fought a number of rounds with a broken jaw against Marty Marshall as a young fighter and a nobody— quit in his corner with a “sore shoulder” and handed his title to Ali.
No thank you.
Their 2nd fight was even more obvious, with Ali scoring an obviously fake first round knockout over Liston, who had never been knocked down in his career. Every former champion (Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano) said it was an obvious fake—as did current fighters who were to fight Ali—like Floyd Patterson and George Chuvalo.
Chuvalo, who was sitting in the 4th row, said, “It was a phony.”
What clueless Terry Paulson knows about boxing he could write on the head of a pin, and still have room for his name and address.
Have seen no evidence of “rope a dope”.
