The Counter opened close to us in Mt. View a year ago. I still haven’t been there. Sounds like it’s worth a try. Clark’s on El Camino is the local institution that’s hard to give up.

The best burgers are often those you get at Mom and Pop's. There was some sort of chain of burger joints in my area that must have gone belly up before I was born.

Now they're each standalone restaurants which serve everything from breakfast, to burritos, to burgers. And some of them are really, really good.

And most of them serve steak fries, which are my favorite and something you can't get at most chains except for Red Robin.
