Rarely, if ever, did a horse immediately retire after taking the Triple Crown. I don’t know of any instances. But I could be wrong.

Count Fleet. Highly regarded but injured after.

But he is the only one. It’s only in the last 30 years especially that horses’ careers have gone really soft. Definitely started in the ‘60s, as does everything going south.
