Seattle Police held a news conference on Tuesday afternoon to discuss a rise in gang and gun violence in 2015. As of Mid-August, this year has seen nearly 60 more shots fired reports than last year.

Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O' Toole said the majority of the shootings and murders are tied to gangs.

"Most of the violence we've seen, most of the shots fired we've seen, most of the homicide we've seen are related to ongoing gang activity," O' Toole said. "There's a very small number of people causing a large number of problems."

Chief O' Toole spoke of a murder in early where a young man was shot and killed while talking on the phone with his mother. That murder was gang related. Sunday morning near the International District there was a murder of a man in his vehicle. That was gang related.

"In a lot of these incidents yesterday's victim is tomorrow's shooter or vice versa," O' Toole said.

And in an effort to reduce this gang violence, Seattle passed a ‘Gun Violence’ Tax on lawful firearm purchases this week. I'm sure we'll see a sharp decrease in gang violence any day now.

The increase in gang violence is a function of the increase in illegal drug activity in Seattle. Illegal drugs are the root of all criminal activity. You can bank on it.

“Illegal drugs are the root of all criminal activity. You can bank on it.”

That reminds me of what a police officer said when it was learned a huge safe of narcotics was stolen from a CVS during the riots in Baltimore.

He said there’s enough in there to keep ‘em high for a year. And went on to say to expect gang violence to rise because of it.

With all these gang related killings, it won’t be long before we start hearing, “Gang Lives Matter”. Idiots, all of them.

Wonder why there is no mention of the ethnicity of the gangs?

Oh, wait. They must be gangs of "teens."

Why don't these gang members find jobs at Starbucks? Seattle's $15/he minimum wage must surely appeal to them.

I love it when the first post of the tread is the best one. Saves time. (But just to confirm my statement, I read all the rest too.)

When a town has so little crime that it counts the number of gunshots — they don’t have much of a crime problem.

Crime will increase everywhere as police pull back in order to protect themselves from being framed for shooting an ‘innocent’ black thug.

Good that it is gangs and not the general population. Maybe they will go after gangs even though it would be politically incorrect. Gangs are Obama’s and his minions’ heros. It’s Obama’s “shock troops”.

El Salvador just declared all gang members terrorists this week. This week here in America, Hillary just declared Republicans terrorists and Seattle blamed law abiding firearm owners for their increasing gun violence problem. And they wonder why we cling to our guns.
