Two and a half years ago, a man who eats tuna filed a class action lawsuit against Starkist, a tuna company. His allegation was that the company was deliberately under-filling each can by a few tenths of an ounce. That might not make a difference to one consumer making one tuna salad, but would add up over millions of cans. While Starkist doesnt admit fault, the case has been settled.
If youre a resident of the United States and bought at least one five-ounce can of any of these tunas from Starkist between February 19, 2009 and October 31, 2014, youre eligible to file a claim:

If I had bought their product, I'd file for the benefit.
But I didn't, so I won't.

Thanks for posting. It has seemed to me in recent years that there has been less in the cans. I wonder if all the companies do it.

Has anyone else noticed that Tuna tasted better when it still had a bit of Dolphin in it?

I don’t eat Starkist, Bumble Bee or any of the popular tunas because their “vegetable broth” contains soy, which I’m sensitive to. Why they need to put soy in this broth is beyond me. Isn’t there enough protein in the tuna? Tuna which is kosher for Passover and year round does not contain soy, so that’s the one I go with.

Preppers should opt for the $50 worth of tuna for their stash.
I’m waiting to see what is behind door #3. It might be a rainbow or a unicorn, or free phone.

Most of the common name brand tunas come canned in water as well. I’m not even sure who buys tuna in oil as it just makes the tuna so “oily” and to me that’s not a good thing.

We bought one of each of a few different brands and lined them up on the counter, open. Some looked like the cat got sick after eating fish.
Some had decent texture and flavor (hey, it's canned tuna). We picked the one we liked best, and it turned out to be the store brand.
When it went on sale (.49/can), I bought three cases, and we're just finishing those up.
The last of them are about a year past date, but they are still fine (stored well).
It's time to watch for 'loss leaders' again...

Which tuna fish company does Nancy Pelosi own?
To: Daffynition
Both of which contain soy. Starkist, Bumble Bee, Chicken of the Sea, all contain soy.

Yes, and no. I used to buy tuna packed in oil because if it froze in my field gear, it didn't seem to hurt it as much. You can burn the oil for heat/light, too (stinky, but it works).
I did start buying tuna packed in water, though, and prefer that.

tuna in oil has more calories and more nutrition than just tuna in water....preppers like to buy the oil version for that reason....
plus it tastes far superior....

I must admit I don't pay much attention b/c most of the tuna we eat is wild caught. Thank goodness, my son is the hunter/gatherer. Good eats.
