Yep. And the Republican leaders of the House could have given Bob justice too. But they didn’t.
I could not remember the details but I did remember that he found almost enough illegal votes then, like you said, they closed the investigation and the Republicans went along with it.
Dornan was a conservative bomb thrower and the Republicans wanted him to go away.
I’m proud to say that Bob is a friend of mine.
I haven’t talked to him in a few years though.
My guess is that he’s enjoying his family. They were always his life.

Bomb thrower indeed. I recall him filling in occasionally as guest host for El Rushbo many many years ago. He was great!

I heard him being interviewed on radio a few months ago and he sounded great.
Dornan probably could have kept his seat for a couple three more terms. However, in 1996, he somehow got the notion to run for president. He poured time, money and effort into this quixotic endeavor when he should have been paying attention to his district, in which the Democrat registration was trending upward. Meanwhile, Loretta Sanchez, the Democrat candidate who was on the Anaheim city council, was active in the district shaking hands and drumming up grassroots support. In November, she upset him.
In 1998, Dornan tried to regain his seat. His son managed his campaign, and his wife was heavily involved. He proclaimed himself the “true Latino” and his headquarters was marked by a huge picture of the Virgin of Guadalupe, whose image adorned the cover of one of his campaign handouts. I did some volunteer work for his campaign but realized that it was hopeless. Loretta Sanchez, now with the advantage of incumbency and with a bigger warchest, crushed Dornan in November.
I would have been honored to have a friend like Bob. I think He knew the fix was in and it was becoming a party of one.

Right now we could use 150 million like him. Even though ten thousand would probably be more than enough.
During his interviews I just waited for the inevitable. He’d start talking about somebody and he’d reel off the guy’s Brigade, Division, Battalion, & sometimes went right down to the Company level. I think it got him off, somehow.
He didn’t lose it. He was defrauded out of it.
I think that was Loretta Sanchez — who is not hispanic, but took a hispanic name through marriage. IIRCC.
Loretta was even caught tearing down opponents signs and still got elected.
