ut arresting someone seems an awful kind of response... why not just ask him to walk normally (and carry his wheels)? Most people would comply (second stage if ever necessary): give him an ‘infraction’ ticket... do we really need to be arresting everybody for even the smallest of things? just saying

Read the article, they did warn him and he IGNORED their order....hence the legitimate arrest.....sounds like disorderly conduct bust to me!....maybe a $1,000 fine???

I guess what I am trying to get at is this...
is it necessary to “arrest” people?
(maybe this guy, depending on his behavior, perhaps yes?)
but in general...
there are so many arrests....
when... if as you say the likely best result is a fine...
just hand him an infraction ticket (like usually is done for traffic violations, which this sort of was anyways...in its little minor way....)

an arrest has additional costs and consequences, and poisons our society badly when aggregated over the thousands and thousands of similar incidents

just my thought. maybe I am wrong, not sure. we are incarcerating more of our citizens than almost any other country on earth..... and to what effect? I think we need to rethink the use of the arrest power... focus it on the more serious crimes....
