The XKE was the first car I fell in love with...followed quickly by Lotus.
I never cared for 'vettes although the split-window was almost passable.
1969...pure classic lines that STILL look great!

I think insurance is the reason for being up beat
If he was planing anyway to do a full restore..then the fire really had little impact on that cost.. but now get money from insurance
Be like planning to do a full tear down remodel of a house..the have the same house burn down before you start and it was insured...it a win win

Well at least he follows the always sound strategy of having two jaguars, one to drive while the other is in the shop getting fixed.

I restored my first bike, a ‘72 Kawasaki triple 350, as I sanded down the tank I noted it must have been resprayed a dozen or more times, from the original orange. Hilarious! It ended up 68-69 Ford’s Candyapple Red. My fave...

With the number of car restoration shows on cable TV, this CAR could be a STAR in the near future. Great backstory and something very close to being a complete rebuild!
PS: I don’t think that I’d trust the rubber!

I got my XKE in 76 and it was ok with it unless I was driving in Manhattan. City traffic put the porker in the shop more than I was blowing out the exhaust on the Ll.E at 3am slocking to Montauk. She, along with wifey#1 were gone before the 5th tune up

Heck, if you’ve got a valid VIN and the title to it, you can replace everything else.
