‘Preppers’ hone skills for coping with disaster and dystopia
The Star.com ^ | 8/9/15 | Stephen Spencer Davis

Posted on 08/10/2015 11:14:53 AM PDT by Kartographer

A man who calls himself Che Bodhi draws a crude map in the dust on the hood of his maroon Volkswagen, a battered car that can run on used vegetable oil.

There’s the United States and all its guns to the south, Bodhi says. Highways 401 and 407 are heavily travelled. And St. Catharines and the Niagara Region are a “funnel point.”

“North,” he concludes, “is the only way that you can truly disappear.”

Bodhi is the organizer of the Annual Preppers Meet, held on a recent weekend on a patch of land near Shelburne, and he knows something about disappearing. I call him after the meet, having heard his name is an alias. He’s evasive and won’t confirm it directly.

"There’s the United States and all its guns"

If you can't protect it you don't own it.

I read the article.

I noted the tired memes.

I also noted the disparaging and disrespectful tone/wording the author uses to frame preppers as kooks.

Thus, it begs the questions: Why are leftists so very opposed to folks being prepared?

Why is the left vehemently opposed to people getting their lives in order so as to be ready for the next big disaster?

Why is it that when people are leery of the gov’t and eschew their assistance, the left sees that as a kind of treason, almost?

The only conclusion I can draw is that leftists know that preppers are free, in a sense. That tiny bit of liberty, possessed by folks not them, is a mortal threat to their agenda.

But there is a flip side of that coin : If you are on the run you are a refugee and will be accorded all the rights given to such during shtf. Like being shot for vagrancy and or tresspass.

The author’s disdainful tone duly noted. Nevertheless, the article contained a couple of good tips. I’ve placed “post big yellow sign that says ‘Zombie Survival Camp’ and order matching tee-shirts” on my list of Things Not To Do.

Why is it that when people are leery of the gov’t and eschew their assistance, the left sees that as a kind of treason, almost?

Because it's easier to control dependent people. People with no food, no water, no electricity, no internet (NO GAMING!!!), and especially NO GUNS are very easy to control...

First Rule of Prep Club: you do not talk about Prep Club.

Second Rule of Prep Club: you DO NOT talk about Prep Club.

Third Rule of Prep Club: If someone says SHTF, do a shot.

Fourth Rule of Prep Club: No more than two people to a retreat; one of them must be a buxom blonde co-ed for repopulating the species.

Fifth Rule of Prep Club: No tie-dye shirts, no socks with sandals, no Birkenstocks, no hipsters.

Sixth Rule of Prep Club: Prepping will go on as long as it has to.

Seventh Rule of Prep Club: Only one BOL at a time.

Eighth Rule of Prep Club: If this is your first time to Prep Club, you HAVE to buy all other preppers a shot.

>> Why are leftists so very opposed to folks being prepared?

Because it’s thumbing your nose at the cradle-to-grave nanny state that (in their dreams) furnishes your every need and controls your every move.

They take their government VERY seriously!
