Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were apparently huge cry babies on the set of Full House, and John Stamos says he tried to get them fired for it.
“It’s sort of true that the Olsen twins (who were 18-months-old) cried a lot,” Stamos said at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour in Beverly Hills. He added that the twins made shooting Full House “very difficult” and he requested to “get them out!”

I used to watch it when I was very little. Watched every episode. I loved John Stamos. Now I find this out? Pft. You honestly cannot like anyone at all.
Sometimes as viewers we forget that the characters we see on TV are nothing like the actors who play them. Cliff Huxtable anyone?
I guess show business families are very different than what I know. What kind of parent keeps bringing their 18 month old twins onto a film studio when the children keep crying while at the studio?
Maybe I’m being naive. I know the stories of how the Beach Boys were bullied by the dad for years, even after they became successful. There’s poor Michael Jackson and his ‘fear’ of his father. It’s a paradox. There is often much suffering before (and because) success has been achieved.
Very true. Actors are very good at putting up a front. It’s really unfortunate that we all have to come to terms with the fact that our heroes are human.
Young child actors are well-known to be difficult to work with, tantrums and the like. That’s just what toddlers do. But, they were no doubt ratings gold at the time, cute as a button, and Stamos comes across sounding like an overgrown baby himself for having wanted them fired, imho.
Wonder how many went to go see Bob Saget’s standup only to find out he worked blue even more than Richard Pryor?

Imagine what W.C. Fields would have suggested if he’d had to work with them? Reading Stamos’ profile he’s done a lot of work with some interesting charities including the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Network, Special Olympics, and Project Cuddle. Maybe it was more the twins’ mother he wanted off the set. Can you imagine the kind of parent that put those girls to work at 18 months?
So many former child actors end up damaged in some way in adulthood.
I can’t speak to circumstances at the time, and was unaware of Stamos’ charitable efforts which put him in a better light. However, those remarks do make him sound like a crybaby.
