“My question is, how much total have I charged to accumulate that amount of “cash back”? “

Too much.

Divide both sides of the equation by 1.5% to isolate the C.

Divide your earned money by 0.015.

If you earned cash back of $1,000 , and divide by 0.015, you find that you had to spend $66,666.66 to get the cash back rewards.

For about $850 ....it is $56,666.66

I came up with $56808.67. 100/1.5=66.666 66.666x852.13=56808.67

If you can not do this on your own, you should not have the credit card. Never ever pay an interest fee on you credit card. Always pay your total off at the end of the month. Credit card companies do not like that, but the make money nevertheless on every purchase, they just make even more when you carry a balance.

I've had a certain credit card for 18 months, it pays 01.5% cash back on all purchases. I just looked on line at my statement and I have accumulated $852.13 so far. My question is, how much total have I charged to accumulate that amount of "cash back"? I know that 01.5% of "X" = 852.13, I've simply forgotten how to do this probably 5th. or 6th. grade math. Thanks.

If you have paid your credit card off every month and have not incurred interest payments you have done well. If this is a company credit card you have done even better.

If you are neither of the above might I suggest you contact a lawyer that knows a lot about chapter eleven bankruptcy.

Are you a democrat?

Start with

totalAmount*0.015 = 852.13

Divide both sides by 0.015:

totalAmount = 852.13/0.015

which is 56808.67.

Here’s some advice for solving problems with big numbers. Solve them the same way you would with little numbers.

For example: 01.5% of X = $852.13 is a problem with big numbers. Think of a similar problem with little numbers. How about 2 of __ = 6 or 2 x __ = 6. You’re probably screaming “the answer is 3.” Because 6 (the product) divided by 2 (the known factor) is 3.

So, solve your problem with big numbers the same way. $852.13 divided by 01.5% or .015 equals your answer.

I used the government approved calculator. The answer is, “you have $852.13 that is rightfully property of the US government”

As long as you do the same thing to both sides of the ‘=’ sign, everything balances out.

So if you have 0.015 (1.5%) * X = Some_Number (sorry I didn’t write it down), and you then divide both sides by 0.015, that will give you 1*X on the left side, or just X, while the right side works out to (Some_Number)/0.015.
