I think this was unofficially confirmed days ago, the French are just figuring it out.

As I recall, their behavior wasn't strange. Either those Iranians on board were terrorists, or there was someone hiding in the electronics bay below the pilot's cabin even before the aircraft took off.

Given the flaperon was found, I'm also wondering if a heat-seeking missile ripped the engine (and flaperon with it) right off the aircraft.

I personally feel it was hijacked and the US took it down in some way. I can’t believe its route deviation wasn’t immediately noticed with the US assets in that critical area (Gulf of Thailand, Malacca Straits), and their ties with the Thai and Malaysian military.

For one, the Chinese have been very quiet about this given it was almost entirely their citizens.
