I’m an 82 year old cigarette smoker and doing just fine so maybe that means that cigarettes are harmless also.

Well, then the real question becomes: why have you continued to smoke cigarettes despite evidence that they are harmful? Is it because you believe you are free to make your own decisions about health risks? Why would you deny the freedom to others that you still enjoy? If we ban marijuana because we believe it is unhealthy, shouldn't we also ban tobacco? And alcohol? And soda?
