I’m a grandparent too now, and yes, they really are better!
And I’m not trying to give you a hard time in any way, but why was it your grandchild affected you that way and not your own children?
1. Abortion wasn't a common form of birth control then. 2. Sonograms weren't available for standard prenatal care. 3. Sex was nowhere near as casual back then as it is now (don't get me started about the societal impact of the Pill). 4. When mothers felt the first kick there was no doubt about whether there was a life there. 5. A strong sense of personal responsibility which, evidently, is less prevalent in the general population today.
