I do miss my heated seats, super disk brakes and infrared windshield wipers, though.

I don't know how to upgrade the brakes or the wipers, but you can add seat heaters. The heating elements slip between the seat covers and foam structure and are easy to wire up. The same kits are used in pretty much any vehicle that has seats and 12v power, they even sell them at Aircraft Spruce.

Careful there. Let your insurance company know that you added those heaters (and, yes, your rates will increase) because if the add-ons torch your car, Allstate might not want to pay. Comprende?

I have a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. There are a few upgrades I have done:

Bigger engine with dual carburetors
Electric windshield pump (original ran off the spare tire pressure)
Aftermarket wiper switch that gives me delay wipers
Boat bilge fans installed in the heating system to boost output
Front disk brakes

And basically I did a ground up body off restoration a few years back. I love driving it, and drive is every chance I get.
