I saw the Arizona memorial in 1968 when I did a west-pac on the USS Bennington. I did the rail watch and I could see the memorial from the flight deck.

It is a very moving experience.

Also, when I got back from the Tonkin Gulf in 68, we were sent to Bremmerton Washington. We were there to decommission the Benny. We were right across the dock form the USS Missouri.

I got the see where the war began and where it ended. It is difficult to express how it made me feel at both times.

I will always be grateful that I was able to see both.
