On the current path, the US will be a small shadow of itself by then... and the Joint Strike Fighter will still be in test.

Interesting but obsolete. 4th generation war is not fought Napoleonic with Army’s facing each other. Rather its goal is to avoid direct engagements. Instead the weaker side’s goals are to cause the other side to expend massive resources, to demoralize, to break the will to fight. Simply put, There will not be anybody there for the old style Napoleonic fighters to attack.

Amazing.

All of this for 1 old guy in a wheelchair with a Confederate flag that refused to bake a cake for homos.

All well laid plans do not show the heart of the fighter

All the high-tech flapdoodle aside, the most basic weapon is still an infantry soldier and his (I use the masculine pronoun intentionally) rifle.

What a ridiculous article? The author of this piece must live in his basement playing video games 24/7.

To prove a point, a single jet fighter can cost well over $10,000,000 each. Now, just how much would these “advances” cost each?

Fighting a war comes down to only three things...bullets, missiles, and bombs...not toys.

$1,000,000 EMP blast vs $600,000,000 weapons systems.

ROI is not worth it, especially in an age where capturing and holding land is obsolete for modern warfare.

-20:00 The Platoon takes mandatory transsexual training classes (with 3D holograms) and celebrates why George obama Washington was the greatest homosexual leader in the history of USA.

- 1900 Platoon undergoes socialist “confess your sins” group therapy. A half white soldier is booted out for confessing he is sometimes scared of muslims with swords walking down the street chanting islamic slogans.

- 0 Enemy launches a cheap EMP device barrage knocking out all electronics and commo in the platoon.

+ 0.05 Platoon leader gives the order to drop all your Star Trek “shit” and to fix bayonets.

+ 0.06 3/4 of the Platoon refuses the order and calls the platoon leader a racist, sexist and woman hater. Mandatory meeting are then called with the Company Commander. Those then lead to mandatory theory and 100% PTSD awards.

+ 6 months. The United States sues for peace and will pay reparations for being the aggressor country for the last 200 years.

I think we’ve reached a point where we should rethink the military rank structure, especially for the combat arms branches. It makes no sense to make a newly minted second lieutenant in charge of a platoon of 30 men, most of whom have more experience.

The concept of Mutually Assured Destruction kept the Soviet Union from attacking us for decades. This worked because Russia is rational.

Now we have ayatollahs ready to build nukes and buy ballistic missiles to deliver them. Thanks to Obama and Kerry.

These nutjobs truly believe starting a nuclear war will bring their Mahdi out of a well. MAD won't work on religious zealots. The nukes will fly.

They will be wearing TALOS armor, an “Iron Man”-like suit which covers nearly their entire body, cools them off when necessary, and actively assists their movements to improve performance and reduce fatigue.

Unless this Armor has Power from Talos from Skyrim, I couldn't disagree more.

You want to see the Future of Warfare?

Look to the Past.

The Future of War will be Young Men Facing Death and Doing Battle Terrified behind rocks Praying that the next projectile doesn't have his name on it.

Since it has been since The Begging of Time and so it will be until the end.

Because War, War NEVER Changes.

Granted, modern warfare often aims to avoid engagements with fixed defenses in favor of mobility, but the scenario could be drawn easily enough to provide a reason for battle.

For example, the defenders might be: stranded by the breakdown of their transport; ordered to stand in place for a rendezvous; to hold the position as a screening force or to gain intelligence; to recover objects or persons of value; and so on. The lack of any explanation in the scenario is puzzling.

Dream on. Once you conquer an area of land you must hold it and that means the “old style” type army and weapons.

Indeed.

Even if we end up half cyborg, the increase in weaponry will cross cancel it and we remain at square one.

However T-51 Power Armor is never bad to have.
