The County Jail's policy of treating non-emergency medical needs in-house, and transporting only for emergencies, is fully justified.

Pregnancy is not an injury. It is not a disease. It is not a disability. It is not a medical emergency. It does not require medical treatment.

The treatment she proposes, disables a normal physiological process. Disabling of normal processes is not therapeutic. And it intentionally causes death: but death is not a treatment. Death is what ethical medicine is supposed to prevent.

And the State has no interest in causing infant death.
