Is Donald Trump Pulling A Nigerian 419 Scam?
James Altucher ^ | July 20, 2015 | James Altucher

I'm sort of breaking my promise here. No news. Why no news? Because the news you read is almost always by uninformed reporters and is totally irrelevant in 99.999% of the cases.

Example: Greece has not paid a single debt since Rome took over in 146 BC. And yet, everyone keeps asking me about Greece.

News flash: They will borrow more money, and AGAIN they will not pay their debts. Nor should they.

Greece is a subsidized beach resort, healthy food, etc but they aren't a real country - (sorry in advance to anyone offended by this) and then in three years, for less than the cash Google has in the bank, the entire world will figure out another way to bail them out.

That's all you ever need to know about Greece. By the way, when I was living in Astoria, New York (all Greeks) I learned the rules to the three ways they play backgammon there.

Makes sense to me.

You’re right about the name recognition. One added aspect/benefit is he’d get a lot of LIV votes just for the celebrity factor alone. It could add up to a win.

He’d better have the best security in the world, though.

I think it is possible that Trump intends to run as an an independent thus throwing the election to the Dim. Just like Ross. The loss of trust is palpable in this election.

Did the article even get to correlating a 419 scam to Trump? Didn’t think so. Just trying to smear him.

He asks the question, Why do the 419 scammers continue sending out emails full of misspellings? He writes:

There’s a simple reason. Anybody in the top 90% of rational people know that a misspelled email coming from a Nigerian prince is a scam.

The Nigerians don’t want to deal with those 90%. Even if you sent a perfectly spelled letter with a much more realistic story, those 90% will figure it out. Then the scammer will have wasted his time. He doesn’t want to waste time.

He needs to find the 10% that will respond to him really quickly. (Btw, I’m assuming “he” but can also be a “she”). And the 10% that will work.

Does it work? Of course it does. 419-ers made $13 billion last year. And every year.

Then he links it to Trump, arguing that, like the 419-ers' misspellings, Trump's stupid and outrageous statements are an audience selection tool, a means of appealing to the 12% who have no other candidate representing them. He predicts Trump will flame out early — by South Carolina at the latest — and go third party, so that he will have Hillary to kick around for the next eight years.

Or, more likely, the exact opposite.

I could be wrong but i just don’t think a billionaire, even with his ego, could be that destructive of the country. and i think when he articulates the problems we have he is mostly correct.

Your post is so good that I couldn’t excerpt a single sentence without re-posting the whole thing.

The train of your logic and reasoning regarding the enigma of Donald Trump, is just clean and seamless, from end to end. As you might imagine, my own reasoning mirrors your own.

At Trump’s age, he can’t afford to be anything but serious about his presidential aspirations. He’s toyed with the idea of running before, but this is his last best shot to actually realize that aim.

And the timing for an iconoclast like him couldn’t be better. As you said, he doesn’t need to be a card carrying Freeper to recognize the scale of wanton destruction this nation has suffered over the last few decades. He’s obviously as angry about the state of the nation as we are.

I’m sure he’s looked it all over and has come to the conclusion that he’s made all the money he needs to, at this stage of his life, and that he’s got a very good chance to achieve something even greater than all of his prior accomplishments by being President.

I, for one, believe this man is being straight with the American people, and that he’s determined to use every ounce of his talents, skills, and experience, to win the election. If elected, I believe he will use the power of the office to effect the sort of changes we all want to see.

I don’t trust Walker, especially regarding amnesty.

Copy that. I'm convinced he's GOP-e, through and through.

Windflier, Black Adderess, odawg, KGeorge, GilGil, Lopeover, Cats Pajamas, Doughty One,

Good analysis all. We are of like mind on Trump.

Look at what is before our eyes. Read the man. Study his demeanor. Read his history.

Trump is in this race to win. He is not backing down. He is not pulling out. He is committed and serious about this. He means to sit in the oval office for the purpose of restoring America. Underestimate him at your peril.

This conjecture about him pulling out or stepping aside that we hear is based on what? Wishful thinking is all. There is nothing to base it on but idle conjecture. Read him. Look at him. Can't you see what is before you.

And the crowds know it. They see he is going for the goal line and will not let anyone stop him. As Patton said "Americans love a winner."

Tonight in South Carolina, when he addressed the crowd I saw a slight change in his tone and approach. Tonight he spoke to friends, his team, with the knowledge that he was breaking new ground and had the enemy in a lather. I saw a greater seriousness and the joy of battle in him.

Yes, you are right, Doughty One, he will not do it as we expect it and he will probably do some things we don't like when in office. In total, though, I think he is the man best suited to lead a revolution to save America. He will bring a big wave of people with him, like Reagan did, energized to fight the battle to save America.

Trump is truly a Black Swan and the elitists just don't know how to handle him. In that he came out of the blue and is so unexpected, I do see God's hand in this. It will not be easy though. We are going into a very pitched battle here.

“He’d better have the best security in the world, though.”

My thought as well. And he may need protection from more than just crazies. I have an increasing cynicism about power players and special interests who believe that they have the right to control who gets elected to high office. I’m not a conspiracy fan, I just think that our political climate is more and more resembling the third world.

I agree with your comments.

In addition I found his grasp of Benghazi to be surprising.

You don’t know the finer points about Benghazi unless you’ve been tuned in for more than a few months. I’m beginning to believe Trump is far more Conservative than anyone expected.

In the past, I think it served him alright to be coy about his core beliefs. He seems to be shedding the act. Or is this the act. I don’t believe so at this point.

Again, Benghazi is a rather obscure subject if this is only an act.

He’s also got McCain’s number.

I don’t think the guy is messing around either.

I’ve had concerns about that too.

I watched him the other day, and he has a team of very professional looking security people around him.

I agree.

Any conservative that tries to get us back on track as a Constitutional Republic will not live long. And they would make it look like a “crazy right winger” did it.

We should hope and pray that you are right. This is our last chance.

Obama put us in the toilet. Hitlery would flush us. That evil woman would make Obama look like a Boy Scout and that’s no exaggeration.

“stupid and outrageous statements”

Equating 419 scams to stupid and outrageous statements is a bit of a stretch. If that were the case then just about everything a polidiots says could be called a 419 scam.

A 419 scam is about telling a lie that someone has money waiting for them, not stupid and outrageous statements.
