A large part of this could be fixed by sending a lot more people to train in the skilled trades instead of getting a useless liberal arts degree (or flunking out without even that degree) to compete in retail.

Actually no, IQ will get blown out of the water with AI. Creativity is a bit harder nut to crack for machine intelligence, not that they aren’t trying.
