That’s nice. Hubby has lots of blueberry bushes, but so far they haven’t really produced anything to speak of.

Well, I’ll have to try some without blanching. Probably about 3 months worth. Blanching might be needed for a longer time period, though is what I’m thinking.

It turns out pretty well. You just wrap it up and then stick it in the microwave husk and all. Then cut off the stem end, grab hold of the tassel end and shake it till the corn falls out. Takes all the husk and silk off the corn.

Yes, I do buy seeds that have different maturity dates, but he still manages to get a whole lot of produce all at once. Here I am at 3 AM processing yet another batch of green beans.

I have canned a batch or two of something every day this week.

Thanks. I am looking forward to the Baker’s Creek thing. We didn’t get too many black berries again this year. They just never have come back after the year of the drought.

Glad you worked out a solution to the spuds problem. It’s been a really busy season this year. I can’t believe it’s almost the end of July! I’m so glad that it cooled off a bit so I have enjoyed my canning sessions a lot more without the hot nights.

It’s been a very unusual summer, with lots more coolness than usual.

I can’t remember off hand what that is. I’ve never really had to deal with it, but have read about it. If you post the question this Friday afternoon, when the thread starts one of the other posters may have and answer.

I’ll also try to remember what I read and where I read it.

Yes, I can remember sitting on the sandy banks of Rockaway Beach here when I was a kid, and the same thing - too hot to walk to the water without shoes.

I am going to freeze all the corn we have space for. Haven’t made up my mind whether I will blanch it or not. One year, I cooked it almost done in husks in the microwave.

Then, I cut off the ends, and shook the cobs out of the husk while holding onto the tassel end. Then cut it off the cob and froze it. Then just took it out and popped it in the Microwave for supper in a jiffy.

I won’t be eating it anytime soon. I’m on low carb diet until November. If I were to eat corn now, my insulin would spike and it would take me a week or more to get it under control, and I would feel like I was starving to death, and my blood pressure would back up to where it was - It’s better, but I have a ways to go.

I think I’ll be able to add back some small servings of corn this winter.

I had corn frozen raw in the vacuum foodsaver bags that we ate when it was 6 months in the freezer and it was sweet and tender. Was very happy about that.
