A large part of it is that the brass doesn’t want to have to deal with the bad press from the inevitable negligent discharge events that would occur if service weapon carry was more common.

I don’t say this because I’m against it, quite the opposite. But that is the reality of the situation.

Shots were fired at 2 locations. That picture could be the first location where no one was hurt.

After it came out that members of the military were specifically targeted for terror attacks, Sgt Mr. niteowl77 Jr said that any E-6 or over should be given the option of carrying a sidearm. I don't know his reasoning, but I tend to think he is correct.

All of our service members should as me or you have the GOD given right to protect themselves and family from harm. If they don't have the common sense and discipline to know how to handle a sidearm and when and where to use it then they have no business being in the armed forces to start with. At least two in any smaller place like a recruiting office should be armed. At FT Hood all E-6 and above should have been armed.

Yup.

Witness said he sped north on 153 after hitting the recruiting station on Lee Highway.

The Naval Reserve Center that was hit is 7 miles north of the recruiting station, right off 153.

He could have been at the Navy building 5 minutes after.

“Exactly as you said....it is a shame we are allowing this to happen. Where are all those people who said Obama is no worse than Romney?”

So you’re in support of a candidate/s that would have banned firearms? Are you suggesting that had Romney been president, he would have been more effective at getting anti-gun legislation passed and we wouldn’t have had a scenario like this, because the perp couldn’t have owned a gun? I don’t recall anybody on this forum stating that “Obama is no worse than Romney”, only people stating they wouldn’t vote for a liberal, such as Romney. And for the record, I held my nose and voted for the POS Romney, but I will NEVER do such again, that is, vote for a liberal of any party.

Romney signed a law to permanently ban many semi-automatic firearms, stating: “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense,” Romney said in 2004. “They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

This is sickening. Clearly, the evidence is mounting that our military are being deliberately betrayed. The idea that America’s defenders should ever be disarmed is indefensible in logic or justice.

Well said. Standing Armies are anathema to republics.

Very huge difference in a service member going down the street with a loaded M-16 and one given a sidearm for self protection. They should have that right to self defense as much as you or me. A M-16 can be fully automatic. A side arm even military issue are one with calibers anyone can purchase. Inside a military facility at least one m 16 at a recruiting office should be accessible to authorized NCO as well for use to defend that facility. That basic concept is taught in Basic Training and falls under The General Orders.

But in today's times we have Idiots for policy makers like a Jack Ass sending National Guards to the border with M 16 and no rounds.

“I’m sure you see many things healthy people don’t see.”

If it were not against the rules, I would reply that I, conversely, am sure that you do not see anything that stupid people cannot see. Of course, I would never say such a thing.

Oh, and btw: congratulations on bringing the level of discourse down.

I never said in my post Romney was good or great. He remained dead last on my preference list throughout the 2012 campaign. My point is Obama is worse in protecting our soldiers on the homeland. Work place violence my azz. I can’t think of any worse person as CinC than the current occupant. Yet, I recall posts saying Obama is no worse than Romney. That was my point. I hope you can understand it better now.

I guess Trump was right about letting military personnel be armed on US facilities.

Maybe military in the US will now be allowed to carry firearms.

Not if that prick in the white hut has anything to say about it.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within.
An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly.
But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely,
his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims,
and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.
He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city,
he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.

A murder is less to fear."
