The State Attorney's Office in Tallahassee, Fla., released surveillance video on Monday showing FSU quarterback De'Andre Johnson punching a female student at a bar a month ago.

Unless something happened prior to her slapping him which would justify what she did, she should be charged as well.
Well, it certainly looks like something DID happened prior. First, he is right on her back as she walks up to the bar, apparently saying stuff to her. Then he apparently puts his hands on her. Check out 13-14 seconds into vid how she suddenly reacts to something he does.
The vidoe shows her going to the bar with him following her (did they know each other? Was he hitting on her previously?). He crowded and pushed into her personal space from behind, and she seemed to take offense and was telling him off. He then laid his hands on her and pushed her back into the pussy-boy behind her (escalation and assault). At that point she hit him (self-defense?) and he (like the true macho-man football player he is) hit her back.
They got into a verbal altercation (previous friction?)..
He pushed/grabbed/choked her..(assault)
She hit him..
He hit her..
..........
Good questions. This is an example of how a video doesn’t tell the whole story.

There’s a huge difference between the punch she threw and the one he did. And yes, females are held to a lower standard.
You may want to watch the first part with your eyes open this time.

Lol. I'm sure you agree with me then about the shortcomings of the jury system. Imagine being on trial for something you didn't do and have to rely on the often flawed observations of the average schmo. Pretty scary.
But the main point here is that HE did something to initiate the incident.
Hard to believe, isn't it, that people here are still trying to defend this thug/punk QB.
It is certainly a concern.
But on this thread, it’s not the schmos who concern me. It’s the willful ignorance of some of the posters who see only that which serves to prop up their preconceived notions.
how anyone misses that the qb grabs her prior to her taking a swing is jusst baffling. I believe it’s willful.
Er, I just watched it and what I saw was the girl was at a crowded bar, he muscles his way in, they have words, she pops him one on the shoulder and he nails her with a right to the jaw...
He wasn’t “defending” himself....

The entire scene is sad.
He punches girl in face, then leaves the scene, guy next to girl doesn’t even intervene or assist her, in any way. She’s bleeding (nose? mouth?) and her friends tell the bartender (one of two who haven’t noticed ANY of this...get those drinks out, STAT!), she bleeds on to the bar...bartender sends her away to someone/where else. Blood stays on bar counter as bustling business continues on, without missing a beat.
I was going to respond to the good doctor and remind him that only pu$$ies punch out women, but am hopeful that he simply neglected the /s tag.
He grabbed her first arm (her right) defensively to stop her from trying to hit him (I have done the same move). She was waving that fist at him and obviously threatening to hit him with it.
He is under no obligation to allow her to land a punch before reacting. He saw a threat and tried to neutralize it by grabbing her right hand. He then continued to try to calm the massive woman down (who probably had 20 pounds on him) but she escalated the situation further by then trying to left hook him to the jaw (which he dodged). Having had enough of this massive drunk woman continuing to attack him he finally pops her in the jaw and walks off.
Actually if you watch the video you can see he is actually talking to the black girl to his left and is trying to make his way to the bar between her and the white girl.
