The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

What a week, hope you had a great Fourth too.

And what a lineup tonight! Boston Blackie is good...never heard of Pete Kelly's Blues so that should be fun...Escape!...and ending with a Lux from ‘48, the Kiss of Death...what a strong show...

Life's good. How you doing?

Hi, Vision and Houmatt!

I didn’t think we would be this late getting back. Vision, I started to FReepmail you this morning to let you know we had to run out of town to Mobile to take care of some stuff, and that we might be late getting back, but I thought we would be back at least an hour or two before showtime. Wrong. It turns out we walked in just as Ed signed on. What a DAY! We drove on the Interstate through bad thunderstorms coming and going, but thank the Lord we’re back home safely now.

I hope you guys are doing well.

Nope. Quicktime is not running on my computer, and now I cannot download anything. I am sure I have no viruses so I do not know what is going on.

How is Mobile?

It was very long and complicated (and scary, because of the weather, driving). But, it’s nice now to be home.

Oh, bummer. Computer troubles are irksome. I hope you get it fixed.

Mobile is fine. Wet and thunderstruck. We’re glad to be back home.
