This was the right thing to do, I’m shocked that Red State would object to it. Kasich in Ohio did not except the Police and Fire unions so all the unions banded together to claim his reforms ‘put the public in danger’ and he got creamed.
Walker recognized that there is a difference between the union of paperpusers amalgamated and Police and Fire who need unions to buffer against political mismanagement LIKE BALTIMORE.
He actually talked about this in his book.
It was a good decision for safety reasons. If the police, firefighters and prison guards had went on strike during that time it could have become a very dangerous environment in WI.
I believe his first duty was to make sure the citizens of the state were protected as much as possible. As it was they had plenty of problems with the Madison police.
