My mother engendered in me both a love of all things Alfred Hitchcock and a voracious appetite for true crime. Like her, I had to give up the serial killer stories while my kids were little -- the images, even left to the imagination are more than a parent can bear -- but now they're all out of the house and I'm catching up again.

Sutcliffe's crimes were horrific, and yet, incredibly the Brits are considering transferring him from a public facility for the criminally insane to a private psychiatric hospital. Even more strangely, we get this, which is always a head-scratcher for me: "Sutcliffe reportedly receives considerable fan mail from female admirers."
