I know an emergency room dr who shot himself in the chest... months before the deed, he told his wife he would never shoot himself in the head - too much trauma for the families he dealt with.
I did know one man who shot himself in the heart.. at the cemetery. The weird part of this story is he was found in a river. So... you shoot yourself and deliberately fall into a river? On a boat? Just sounds weird to me.

No, a shot through the heart will kill you. Very common suicide method. Does not sound like this is the case here with 3 deaths.
