Everybody seems to like the Keurig makers that make one cup at a time. It’s good for people who don’t drink a lot of coffee, but not good for people who like to have a pot going all day long (too expensive).
The Keurig cups are outrageoey’d be goodusly expensive, and you have to buy racks to store your selection. But, they’d be good if you only serve the occasional cup.
I have an insulated stainless steel Cuisanart that makes 12 cups. Its advantage is that the insulated pot keeps the coffee hot all day without a burner going so it doesn’t “cook down”. It wasn’t cheap, but I’ve enjoyed it for about 8 years. I bought it at Sam’s Club at a discount.
I’ve probably tended more than 35 coffee pots during my marriage and my office years. The Mr. Coffee type maker is cheap and good, but it will burn out after 2-5 years. And the coffee tastes awful by the end of the day.
I bet you could find one of these a thrift store.
There's no WAY I could possibly afford that!
Keurig would work for him. He doesn’t drink coffee, he’s getting it for occasional visitors mainly. He wants potentially a lot of variety, so a sample pack could do that.
As far as work to make the coffee it will be painless. I got a very high end one used on ebay. I don’t always want to pull out my aero for a cup.
